Foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan hold talks

Bishkek, May 22, 2024. / Kabar/. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan - Jeenbek Kulubaev and Pakistan - Mohammad Ishaq Dar held talks.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the parties exchanged views on the main directions and priorities for strengthening Kyrgyz-Pakistani relations, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the political dialogue between the two brotherly countries, increasing the dynamics of mutual visits at the highest and high levels, as well as expanding and strengthening mutual trade and economic cooperation.

In this context, the sides discussed issues related to the spheres of trade, investment, transportation communications, textile industry, tourism, education, health care and others.

The Kyrgyz minister emphasized the importance of intensifying trade and economic relations between the two countries and developing cooperation in the energy sector. At the same time, the priority of cooperation between the two countries on the early launch of the sub-regional CASA-1000 energy project was emphasized, which will allow diversifying mutual trade.

At the same time, the discussion of the international agenda touched upon the development of new transit routes to strengthen regional interconnectivity and economies between the countries of Central and South Asia. In particular, work is ongoing to expand the capacity of the Pakistan-China-Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan regional transportation corridor, through which mutual trade is already taking place.

To advance these issues, the sides agreed to hold regular political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan in the near future.

Regarding the stay of Pakistani students in the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev assured that the law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic have taken all necessary measures to ensure their safety. Voluntary public organizations at higher educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic carry out a number of activities to strengthen friendly relations between the youth of the two countries.

The minister emphasized that the incident of May 13, 2024 is being thoroughly investigated, the results of which will punish the guilty persons to the full extent of the law.

In turn, Mohammad Ishaq Dara thanked for the prompt measures taken by the Kyrgyz side to resolve the situation and constructive interaction on all issues on the agenda.
