Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan 13.1% down in 2020

Tashkent, Jan. 21, 2021. /Kabar/. In January-December 2020, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $36.29 billion. Compared with the same period of 2019, the figure declined by $5.45 billion (a decrease of 13.1%), the State Statistics Committee of the republic said.

Out of the total volume, the exports amounted to $15.1 billion (a decrease of 13.4% compared to January-December 2019), and imports - $21.1 billion (a decrease of 12.8%). As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a passive balance in the amount of $6.04 billion.

Among the 20 major foreign trade partner countries, there is also an active foreign trade balance with four countries, in particular, with such countries as Afghanistan ($772.3 million), Kyrgyzstan ($610.1 million), Tajikistan ($307.2 million) and Iran ($33.2 million). A passive balance of foreign trade turnover is preserved with the remaining 16 countries.

As of today, Uzbekistan carries out trade relations with almost 170 countries of the world. The highest volume of foreign trade turnover recorded with the People’s Republic of China (17.7%), Russian Federation (15.5%), Kazakhstan (8.3%), the Republic of Korea (5.9%), Turkey (5.8%), Kyrgyzstan (2.5%) and Germany (2.3%).
