Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2022 / Kabar/. In 2022, the forestry enterprises of Kyrgyzstan planted 1.8 million seedlings of trees and shrubs on their territories, Almaz Musaev, Director of the Forest Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, told today at a press conference at the Kabar Agency.
These seedlings were distributed over 1,177 hectares of forest areas in the republic.
“This year, forestry enterprises have actually created forest plantations on an area of 1,177 hectares. The plan included 1,130 hectares; it was overfulfilled by 4%. According to preliminary estimates, an average of 69% of planted seedlings took root. In total, 1.8 million trees and shrubs were planted in these areas. These are Tien Shan firs, junipers, walnut and almond trees, as well as various types of deciduous trees,” Musaev said.
According to him, today forests occupy 1 million 253.8 thousand hectares of the area of Kyrgyzstan. 1,496 people work in forestry. Their main task is to protect and increase forest areas.
