French energy company to consider possibility of co-investing in energy projects of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, April 25, 2023. /Kabar/. Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to France, Sadyk Sher-Niyaz met on Monday in Paris with Vice President of the largest French energy company “EDF” for Europe and Central Asia Marc Girard.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the meeting was held at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side in order to attract foreign direct investments in the energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation, investment and implementation of joint projects in the field of energy and renewable energy sources.

Sadyk Sher-Niyaz expressed gratitude to the representatives of the company for their interest and intentions for cooperation and noted that the issue of successful and sustainable development of the energy industry is very relevant for the country. Currently, the country is exploring all the possibilities of new production and encouraging private sector initiatives to switch to "green" energy.

Taking into account the favorable investment climate created in Kyrgyzstan, the ambassador noted the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to consider and study the creation of additional conditions for attracting investors to the domestic energy industry, and also confirmed the readiness of Kyrgyzstan to actively cooperate with French investors.

In turn, Mark Girard expressed the interest of the French company to consider the possibility of co-investing in the relevant energy projects of the Kyrgyz Republic.
