Fruits, vegetables and berries drying facility opened in Batken

Bishkek, July 23, 2018. / Kabar /. A small production shop for drying fruit, vegetables and berries was opened recently in the high-altitude village of Margun, Batken oblast.

According to data of the UN World Food Program in Kyrgyzstan, for just over 2.5 thousand people in four villages there is not only a hot climate, but also a fertile soil, which, in hardworking and caring hands of the villagers, yields up to 185 tons of apples and 100 tons of apricots a year.

"And in the mini-shop 5 rural women from morning to night produce delicious pastille, dried apples, melons, plums, apricots, as well as vegetables and berries. Local authorities have already taken care of the sales market and, under the strict guidance of the WFP, are preparing to cover local markets and the border area. They say that people in Tajikistan have already heard about new products and are ready to buy vitamins from our Marguners!", the UN World Food Program in Kyrgyzstan wrote on Facebook.
