Bishkek, April 16, 2024 / Kabar/. The garment industry in Kyrgyzstan currently operates only at half capacity and is in dire need of qualified personnel, said Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev.
He said that in recent years, wages for specialists in this sector have increased by 30%, which attracts garment workers from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. In this regard, the country has seen an increase in the number of workers from these countries.
The minister explained that the local garment workers are accustomed to working from home, taking small orders, or often changing their place of work depending on working conditions. “This all affects product quality and low productivity. In addition, good specialists often leave to work to other countries. Against this background, factory owners are looking for personnel from abroad. A similar situation is observed in the construction sector,” the minister said.
