Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. Construction of the Turkmenistan -Tajikistan- Kyrgyzstan - China transit gas pipeline will be realized after all.

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Alymbek Orozbekov told journalists that the project was initially to be implemented in 2013-2016, but for objective reasons the implementation dates had to be changed.

“In particular, the reason for postponing of dates was the volatility in the gas market in Turkmenistan. Generally, the agreement remained the same. The project is regional, its length is about 1 thousand km, in Kyrgyzstan the gas pipeline will stretch for 218 km. In Kyrgyzstan the project will be entirely realized at the expense of private investments, the sum ranges from от $1 billion to $1.2 billion. Within the project, it is planned that during the construction approximately 1 thousand work positions will be created, 200 work places after putting the operation. We have agreed with the company that 80% of workers will be from among the local residents. For this purpose, today there was a ceremony of presenting certificates for acquiring education in the field of oil and gas in China. We don’t have such specialists here”, he explained.

Orozbekov told that for transit and land use a special tax will be paid.

“The gas pipeline itself will be underground, that is why there will be no limitations for agricultural activities. Depending on when it will reach its project capacity and the world market, it is expected that around $50-60 million will be paid per year”, Orozbekov added.

The gas pipeline will stretch across the territory of Alay and Chon-Alay regions of Osh oblast through Irkeshtam and Karamyk chackpoints.

“There will be no harm to the environment from the gas pipeline, because in our country it will go along the road underground. In Tajikistan, for instance, 47 tunnels will have to be dugged out, because the bulk of the land is covered with mountains”, he said.
