Germany to allocate 40.1 mn euros to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Mar. 5, 2019. /Kabar/. The Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) considered and approved the draft law on financial and technical cooperation with Germany in the second reading.

On the basis of this Agreement, grants in the amount of 40.1 million euros are provided for technical and financial cooperation will be provided.

Of this amount, 21.1 million euros will be provided for technical cooperation projects:

1. The program of the main area of cooperation "Sustainable Development of the Economy", the component "Contribution to the Sustainable Development of the Economy" (3.5 million euros);

2. The program of the main area of cooperation "Sustainable Development of the Economy", the component "Assistance in Employment and Vocational Education" (3.5 million euros);

3. “Prospects for Youth” (4 million euros);

4. “Biological Diversity” and “Poverty Reduction through Municipal Exploitation of Walnut Forest Stands and Pastures” (2 million euros);

5. “Rural Development in the South of the Kyrgyz Republic” (1.5 million euros);

6. “Promoting Perinatal Health Care” (4 million euros);

7. “Research and Professional Payment Fund” (1 million euros);

8. “Strengthening and Use of Services of Importance to Quality in the Kyrgyz Republic” (1.6 million euros).

In addition, 19 million euros will be provided for the implementation of the following projects within the framework of the financial cooperation:

1. The program of the main direction "Health Care", the component "Sector Program for Health Care VI" (9 million euros);

2. The program of the main direction “Health Care”, the component “Sector Program for Health Care VI – Related Measures” (1 million euros);

3. Component "Construction of Social Housing" (8.5 million euros);

4. The component "Construction of Social Housing – Related Measures" (0.5 million euros).

In addition, in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 1 of the draft Agreement between the Government of Kyrgyzstan and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on technical cooperation for 2017–2018, funds in the amount of 500 thousand euros are planned for the implementation of the project “Research and Professional Payment Fund”.

Technical cooperation projects are implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), and financial cooperation projects are implemented by the German Development Bank (KfW).
