Bishkek, Nov.13, 2024. /Kabar/. The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) intends to allocate $8 million grant to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan for realization of joint projects.
Emergency Minister Boobek Azhikeyev met with Helen McLeod, the Director of the Global Green Growth Institute in Baku on Nov.12, the press service of the Emergency Ministry reported.
Within the meeting, the sides discussed preparation and implementation of the grant project, which will contribute to strengthening of the emergency management system in the country and creation of effective mechanisms of adaptation to climate change, including improved monitoring of natural disasters, creation and modernization of warning systems, as well as development and implementation of innovative technologies for forecasting and risk management.
Minister Azhikeyev emphasized the importance of attracting international grant funds to implement effective projects that will help strengthen the national emergency response system and noted that climate change is a serious threat to the region and only joint efforts can improve the resilience of the population and infrastructure to natural disasters.
