Abu Dhabi, Nov. 18, 2022. /Kabar/. The Global Media Congress, which was held on November 15-17 in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Shaping the Future of the Media Industry” and organized by the ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) concluded its work.
The three-day event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, attracted over 13,656 visitors, with the participation of more than 192 media establishments from 42 countries and over 1,200 media experts and specialists.
The first edition of the Global Media Congress attracted significant local, regional and international attention, and its agenda included 40 panel discussions and over 30 workshops attended by 162 participants.
The opening ceremony of the congress started with the message of Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participants of the Congress, read out by Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the Global Media Congress.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in his message expressed his wish that the Congress will become a worldwide platform for contributions and exchange of experiences and opinions, and also in order to find ways to improve the cooperation and transfer of knowledge.
The first day of the conference was devoted to such topics as shaping the future of the media industry, the power of media, investment opportunities in media and the future of news.
In addition, exhibition of media companies was opened the same day, where the media companies could present products, technology and ideas, find potential partners and agree on cooperation.
The second day of the Global Media Congress started with the Tolerance Day keynote by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, who stressed that media outlets have a major role in advancing local and international communities and promoting the values of tolerance and human fraternity.
“As you gather at the Global Media Congress, you have a duty and responsibility to help readers and listeners learn about other cultures and be open to them, as well as to convince them that pluralism and diversity are sources of strength for human communities. You have a duty to work with everyone, whether children, the youth, families, religious people, business people, schools, universities or civil society organizations, so they can perform their allocated roles,” Sheikh Nahyan said adding that the duty of media outlets is to ensure openness to global experiences, always be informed and continue their ongoing development.
During the panel discussions the role of media in creating tolerant societies, social media and others were discussed.
On the third day of the Global Media Congress at the panel discussion on Highlighting media’s impact on identity Saeed Al Eter, Chair of the UAE Government Media Office, addressed the role of the media in promoting national identity amidst the challenges posed by cultural globalisation.
“The media has a major role in promoting national identity, especially considering the importance of education and its related contributions, Al Eter said, noting that some countries are exerting significant efforts to strengthen their national identity, referring to the role played by the media.”
The conferences and specialized workshops in the field of media, holding within the Congress, covered many topics in the field of media such as digital media, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, creativity in the media sector and many others.
