Global Money Week kicks off in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Apr. 8, 2019. /Kabar/. The Global Money Week has started in Kyrgyzstan.

The week is being held in the country for the fifth time, member of the board of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Sydykov told reporters at Kabar News Agency.

He noted that the purpose of the Money Week is to educate citizens and young people to use, accumulate money and improve financial literacy through various interactive activities.

"During the week, the National Bank, government bodies and other organizations, including public and international, as well as commercial banks, will hold a large number of general educational activities on financial literacy, such as open lessons in schools, lectures at universities, excursions to the Numismatic Museum of the National Bank, days of open doors in commercial banks and government agencies,” Sydykov said.

He also noted that, in addition, the results of national competitions (drawings, essays and piggy banks) previously announced among children and young people will be summed up. Solemn ceremony of competitions is scheduled for Apr. 16.

This year the Global Money Week s held under the slogan “Learn. Save. Earn”.

Last year, about 300 lectures were held as part of the Money Week, in which about 25 thousand people took part. About 2 million people were involved through the Internet and social networks. This year about 300 events are planned.

Global Money Week is a global money awareness celebration that takes place in March every year, initiated by Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI), with local and regional events and activities aimed at inspiring children and youth to learn about money, saving, creating livelihoods, gaining employment and becoming an entrepreneur.
