Bishkek, May 7, 2019. / Kabar /. The Government of Kyrgyzstan supports the bill on the introduction of a complete ban on uranium exploration and mining in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov told at a public hearing of the draft law “On the prohibition of activities related to geological exploration, exploration, development of uranium and thorium deposits in the Kyrgyz Republic”.
The inventory of all issued licenses in the Kyrgyz Republic has been completed.
“The current government has not issued a single license to develop uranium. On the contrary, we introduced a moratorium on issuing licenses and announced an inventory. At present, the inventory is completed, analysis is underway,” said Boronov.
Earlier, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov stated that there would be no uranium mining in Kyrgyzstan
