Gov't must prepare clear epidemiological situation response plan: acting PM

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2021. /Kabar/. Acting Prime Minister, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov held in Friday a meeting on topical issues in the health-care system, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government said.

"The public has many questions about the effectiveness of the health system, as well as those measures that are taken in terms of prevention of coronavirus infection, procurement of vaccines and its delivery to the country,” Acting PM Novikov said.

According to him, the independent working group exposed a whole layer of problems in the health system.

"Our doctors, volunteers were heroically saving lives, despite the fact that no one country in the world was ready for COVID-19. We must develop a clear plan to reform and modernize the health-care system. One of the first tasks today is to develop a clear approach to solving these issues. The purpose of the created independent commission is an objective analysis of the causes of the situation during June-July 2020, and the development of specific measures and proposals to prevent further recurrence of the same events,” the acting PM stressed.

The meeting also raised issue of optimization in the health-care system.

Novikov emphasized the importance to normalize the moral climate in the system, as well as to communicate objective information to citizens, including the ongoing work on the registration and supply of vaccines against COVID-19.

The acting head of the government stressed that further digitalization of imported medicines register through a single system will protect the market from counterfeit products.

As a result of the meeting, the Ministry of Health was given appropriate instructions for the effective further work, as well as the introduction of an appropriate action plan as soon as possible.
