Bishkek, Oct. 25, 2018. /Kabar/. The governments of Kyrgyzstan, Great Britain and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime are equally concerned with extremism and terrorism, UN Resident Coordinator Ozonnia Ojielo told during the Central Asian Dialogue on Effective Prison Management of Violent Extremist and Terrorist Offenders.

He said that a 5-year program is being implemented for each of the countries, each of them is adapted to the region.

The coordinator said that the prevention of radicalization is particularly important. System samples must be adapted. The results of the work, during which people exposed to extremism, tried to rehabilitate themselves after, were mixed.

He also noted that it is important to remember that children of extremists and terrorists can also be subjected to radicalization, they do not trust law enforcement agencies out of fear.

Ojielo added that It is important to show that the person who managed to rehabilitate himself said openly: “I did it, I changed’.
