Gross harvest of cereals in Kyrgyzstan in 2021 decreased by almost half

At the end of 2021, grain crops were harvested from the area of ​​577 thousand hectares.

1.3 million tons of grain were harvested from the harvested area (in weight after processing), which is 28.4% less compared to 2020.

The abnormally high temperature in the summer of this year and the lack of irrigation water during the growing season have led to a reduction in the yield of grain crops. Thus, the gross harvest of wheat compared with the previous year decreased by 42.3%, barley - by 46.3%.

In addition, the gross harvest of oilseeds over this period decreased by 25.4%, sugar beet - by 18.5%, gourds - by 14.0%, fruit and berry crops - by 4.4%, corn for grain - by 3.2%, potatoes - by 2.9% and vegetables - by 1.5%.
