Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2020 / Kabar /. A group of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh is collecting signatures to express a vote of no confidence to Parliament Speaker Kanatbek Isayev, MP Saidulla Nyshanov told reporters.

He said that he had heard that 80 MPs had already agreed. The parliamentarian explained that the reason for the expression of the vote of no confidence is the refusal of Kanat Isayev to serve as president after the resignation of Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

“If Sadyr Zhaparov goes to the presidential elections, to whom will we give power? Artem Novikov is said to be. And he is not yet 35 years old. We are heading for a crisis. Because of this, there is discontent among the people,” he said.

Saidulla Nyshanov also said that he does not yet know exactly who can become the speaker, but he heard that a group of deputies support Talant Mamytov.

“But our weather in the Jogorku Kenesh changes every five minutes,” he added.

Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, who is the prime minister of the country declared his intention to participate in early presidential elections.

According to the Constitution, in case of the resignation of the president, the parliament speaker becomes acting head of state. If the speaker is unable to act as president, then powers are transferred to the prime minister.

Artem Novikov is the First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. Thus, Novikov has to serve as acting president of the country.
