Bishkek, Jan. 5, 2021 / Kabar /. At the invitation of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov, a group of observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS member states will take part in the short-term monitoring of the early presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum, which is held on Jan. 10, 2021, the press service of the IPA CIS reported.
The monitoring group will include parliamentarians from the IPA CIS member states, representatives of the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Observance of Electoral Rights of Citizens of the IPA CIS member states, staff members of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council.
Viktor Zavarzin, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues, was appointed as the coordinator of the IPA CIS observer group.
In the period from Jan. 7 to 12, 2021, the group will work on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Monitoring will also be carried out at polling stations abroad on election day. In total, 52 international observers from the IPA CIS have been accredited to work in the elections in Kyrgyzstan.
