Gunfire at border. Negotiations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan completed

Bishkek, March 11, 2022 . / Kabar /. A meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was held Friday in the town of Eki-Tash, Batken region of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast, the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

"During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side stated that night shooting was provoked by Tajik servicemen and showed the area where the soldiers of the Border Service of the Tajik State Committee for National Security threw stones at the cars of Kyrgyz citizens.

In turn, the Tajik side noted that soldiers of the Tajik army did not take part in the stone throwing. According to their version, it was an unknown citizen, and their search is already underway," the report said.

Border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed to prevent provocative measures to destabilize the situation on the joint border.

It was also agreed to protect the state border with regular border patrols.

Currently, the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section is assessed as stable.
