The decision was mutual, it said but did not indicate the reasons. The name of the new team coach has not yet been announced. Earlier, the media wrote that allegedly the authorities want the team to be headed by a specialist from Western Europe. However, the football union denied this information, saying that no one interferes with their work.
The Russian coach has led the national team since 2014. Under him, the team reached the final of the Asian Cup for the first time and reached the 1/8 finals. In 2024, the national team will play in the continental championship for the second time. The tournament will be held in January in Qatar.
Also during his management, the team improved its position in the FIFA rankings - in 2018, the team took 75th place, rising from 146th. Kyrgyzstan has been among the top 100 teams in the world for several years.
In addition, in Kyrgyzstan, Krestinin coached the clubs Neftchi from Kochkor-Ata (2010) and Bishkek Dordoi (2017-2021). Under him, the Kochkor-Ata club won the national championship for the first time and became the owner of the Super Cup of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Dordoi under his leadership became the champion four times, took the Cup and the Super Cup of Kyrgyzstan. In 2019, the specialist was awarded the Danaker state award of Kyrgyzstan.
