Bishkek, Dec. 1, 2021. / Kabar /. During a press conference at Kabar News Agency on Wednesday, General Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Business Council (ABC) Nuripa Mukanova called on political parties to accept the results of the voting and to trust the choice of the people.
She added the ABC conducted active awareness-raising work in regions of the republic about the new electoral process and its principal differences compared to last year's elections.
"We were also responsible for maintaining a stable situation on the Election Day and preventing unrest afterwards. There are always those who agree and disagree with the voting results, but given that the country needs stability, I urge political parties to accept the voting results," Mukanova said.
Kyrgyzstan’s parliamentary elections were held on Nov. 28. For the first time, voting was by mixed system. Thus, 54 deputies of Jogorku Kenesh were elected by proportional system (based on open lists of candidates of political parties) in a single constituency, and 36 deputies by majority system in single-mandate constituencies.
A total of 21 parties and 286 single-mandate candidates participated.
