Head of GKNB does not link detention of journalist Bolot Temirov with his journalistic investigation

Bishkek, Jan. 23, 2022. / Kabar /. “The detention of journalist Bolot Temirov (the founder of Temirov Live) is not related to his released investigation about me,” Kamchybek Tashiev, chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), told a press conference Sunday.

Tashiev said that the evidence presented in the Temirov Live investigation is a lie. “I never stole, did not participate in corruption schemes. This is my life principle and everyone knows about it,” he said.

The head of GKNB noted that he is not familiar with Bolot Temirov. “He is not such a well-known journalist. He takes international grants and as a journalist doing commissioned material. We have materials on how much money he took and deceived. If he were a good journalist, he would also cover positive processes in society. But he always has only negative news. This is his method. For so many years in politics, I have not filed lawsuits against journalists. I'm not going to sue and harass him. I am the head of the special services and we have more important things to do,” he said.

Tashiev stressed that the issues that are present in the journalist's investigation are only around certain businessmen. “There are many companies that operate on their own. They do business honestly. I personally always try to work and live for the good of the people,” he said.

The head of the State Committee for National Security also said that for the first time he heard about the Region Oil LLC, which appears in a journalistic investigation.

Earlier, the editors of Temirov Live published an investigation into the fuel business of the family of the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, in the south of the country.

It says that the relatives of the chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, allegedly engaged in the export of fuel oil, earned 37 million Kyrgyz soms in two days from the difference in price. In particular, the intermediary company earns almost a quarter of its annual profit in two days selling the products of the state enterprise. At the same time, the heads of the state plant (Kyrgyz Petroleum Company CJSC) and the intermediary firm (Region Oil LLC) are connected with the chairman of the State Committee for National Security.
