Head of Kyrgyz Armed Forces General Staff discusses defense, security with his Chinese counterpart

Bishkek, Mar. 4, 2019. /Kabar/. In the period from February 25 to March 1, 2–19, the working visit of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Rayimberdi Duishenbiev, to the People's Republic of China took place, the Department of Information, Public Relations and Mass Media of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the visit, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic met member of the State Council – Minister of Defence of China, Colonel-General Wei Fenghe, Commander of the Xinjiang Military Region, Lieutenant-General Liu Wanlong and the leadership of the 301st Military Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

During the meeting with the head of the defense department of China, the sides discussed the organization and holding of the upcoming meeting of defense ministers of the SCO member states in April of this year, cooperation in the field of defense and security, the state and prospects for the development of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation, and preparation of military personnel and joint activities. Issues of regional security and cooperation between the border areas of the two countries were discussed with the head of the Xinjiang Military Region.

As a result of the negotiations, an understanding was reached on the need to further increase efforts in order to maintain regional stability, as well as to counter the “Three Evils” – terrorism, extremism and separatism.
