Bishkek, April 14, 2022 . / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, the press service of the Cabinet reported Thursday.
The head of the Cabinet noted that Kyrgyzstan aims to further strengthen and build all-round Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations based on friendship and good neighborliness, common history, culture, traditions, language and spiritual values.
"In order to achieve the goal set by heads of two states to bring the volume of trade turnover up to $2 billion, we propose to create conditions to increase mutual trade through the establishment of joint ventures, livestock clusters, logistics centers, free economic zone (industrial) in the border area between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan,” Zhaparov noted.
He continued that in the framework of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the Kyrgyz side at the initial stage proposed such priority projects as the construction of trade and logistics center of border trade in Kyzyl-Kiya town, construction of the Irkeshtam - Darot-Korgon - Uch-Korgon road, connecting this center with multi-modal transport corridor China - Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan.
The deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan stressed the focus of the Uzbek side to ensure the practical implementation of all previously reached agreements between the two countries and the deepening of bilateral cooperation. Sardor Umurzakov expressed hope for the successful activities of Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in trade-economic, water and energy, investment, agriculture and transport-logistics spheres. Issues on implementation of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 construction project were discussed also.
