Head of Kyrgyz Cabinet discuss with UAE economy minister topical issues of co-op

Bishkek, June 2, 2022. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov discussed with Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri topical issues of cooperation between the two countries.

The head of the Cabinet expressed his condolences to the UAE people in connection with the untimely death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, issues of further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two states were discussed.

"I express hope that your visit will give impetus to further strengthening of relations between the two countries. In 2021, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the UAE amounted to about USD 70 million. Undoubtedly, it is a good dynamics, but we need to increase this figure by 3-4 times," Akylbek Zhaparov said.

The chairman of the Cabinet suggested creating a joint Kyrgyz-Emirati Investment Development Fund and opening a UAE laboratory center for standardization in Kyrgyzstan. In addition, the issues of opening an investment center for the implementation of the above initiatives were discussed.

In turn, the UAE economy minister expressed gratitude for the hospitality and confirmed interest in the implementation of projects and initiatives voiced during the meeting.

"We came to the Kyrgyz Republic with a delegation including businessmen, representatives of large companies in the fields of tourism, energy and agriculture. We are interested in cooperation in the areas of energy, mining and tourism. We express our readiness to implement the proposals and initiatives put forward by you," Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri said, adding that the Arab side will assist in exporting local clean drinking water to the UAE.

During the meeting, the minister also confirmed the readiness to hold the second meeting of the Kyrgyz-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council meeting this year.

The sides agreed to start working on the establishment of the sovereign fund, the Kyrgyz-Emirati Fund and the Center for attracting investments in the UAE.
