Bishkek, Feb. 21, 2022 . / Kabar / . Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov familiarized with rehabilitation of the Osh - Nookat - Batken road (28-75 km) during his working trip to Batken Oblast, the press service of the Cabinet said.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Tabyldy Tillaev noted that the Osh-Nookat-Batken road has not only an international significance, but is also an important transport artery for progressive social and economic development of Batken Oblast.
The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is the donor for the construction of this facility.
The cost of the road rehabilitation project is $133.58 million, of which $50 million is intended for the construction of the road from kilometers 28 to 75.
The second component of the project implementation, for which the rest of the loan will be directed, is the prevention of natural disasters on the Bishkek-Osh highway (construction of a protective structure against rockfalls, construction of support walls against landslides, construction of tunnels and bridges).
"At present, the tender documentation is being prepared. The project will be implemented in accordance with international standards,” Deputy Minister of Transport Tillaev said.
The chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet noted that the tender should be announced as soon as possible, and domestic companies should also be involved in the implementation of the project.
