Bishkek, Dec. 18, 2020. /Kabar/. Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s State Service for Combating Economic Crimes (SSCEC, or Financial Police) Syimyk Zhapykeyev geld meeting with Jerome Ribault-Gaillard, the director of the European Union’s LEICA (Law enforcement in Central Asia) project.
Zhapykeyev thanked the meeting participants for the visit, noting that during the implementation of the reform of the law enforcement system, the functions of the Financial Police have significantly expanded, the level of responsibility has increased, which resulted in the need to increase the capacity of the SSCEC.
"There is a need to strengthen the material and technical base, the development of multilateral and bilateral relations with specialized structures of the near and far abroad, the acquisition and mastering of the best modern practices of combating economic and corruption crimes, as well as improving the professional skills of employees," he said.
In turn, Jerome Ribault-Gaillard welcomed the Kyrgyz Financial Service chairman and SSCEC staff, and confirmed the readiness for further cooperation with the Service for Combating Economic Crimes to enhance capacity in financial investigations and combat economic crime, and the introduction of advanced methods and technologies for the detection of new types of crimes.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the priorities for possible mutual cooperation in building the capacity and effectiveness of the SSCEC activities with the support of the LEICA project.
