Head of SCRA discusses draft Memorandum of Understanding in religion in Kuwait

Bishkek, Apr. 3, 2019. /Kabar/. From March 31 to April 3, 2019, Zayirbek Ergeshov, Director of the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCRA), is on a working visit to the State of Kuwait to negotiate a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the SCRA and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of Kuwait, the diplomatic mission of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kuwait reported.

On April 1, 2019, within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Nasser Subeikham with the participation of Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the State of Kuwait Samargul Adamkulova. During the meeting, issues of religion and the activities of charitable foundations in Kyrgyzstan were discussed, following which the sides expressed hope for development and strengthening of cooperation and friendship between the countries.

On the same day, a meeting took place between the Director of the SCRA, Ergeshov and Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Kuwait Farid Asad Emadi. During the meeting, the sides discussed the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Kuwait, and agreed to hold an event on the official signing of the document.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues of state policy in the religious sphere, the charitable activities of religious foundations and new levels of cooperation. The need to reform the sphere of religious education, exchange of experience between the relevant departments of the two states in the field of charitable activities and creation of a system of funds in Kyrgyzstan was noted.

On April 2, 2019, Zayirbek Ergeshov, Director of the SCRA, met representatives of seven foundations engaged in charitable activities in the State of Kuwait. During the meeting, issues of the activities of the religious situation in Kyrgyzstan, religious organizations, religious educational institutions, mosques were discussed, and recommendations on the implementation of social projects in Kyrgyzstan were given. Following the meeting, the sides thanked each other and expressed their willingness to develop cooperation in the field of religion.
