Heads of border regions of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan negotiating

Bishkek, April 29, 2021 . / Kabar /. Governor of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast Omurbek Suvanaliyev and Chairman of Sughd Region of Tajikistan Rajabboy Ahmadzoda are negotiating the situation on the border, Kabar News Agency has learnt from the press service of Batken Oblast state administration.

At the moment, the situation in Ak-Sai village around the Ak-Suu river water intake is stable, but people from the two sides have not yet dispersed. There is an aggravation.

Local authorities are working on the site to resolve the situation.

On the order of the Batken Oblast governor, an Operational Headquarters was created.

A situation in the border area of Batken Oblast, namely in the Kocho-Boyu area of Batken regions has deteriorated on April 29 at about 4:40 a.m.

The reason for the aggravation of the situation was the provocative actions of citizens of Tajikistan who started throwing stones at Kyrgyz citizens and their houses.

Subsequently, the Tajik side started shooting at passing cars of Kyrgyz citizens with hunting rifles.

At the moment, the situation is tense, according to the Border Service.

Residents of the villages on Kyrgyz-Tajik border where the incident have been evacuated.
