Heads of Kyrgyz and Uzbek news agencies discuss prospects for cooperation

Tashkent, Dec. 21, 2019. / Kabar /. Director of Kyrgyz National Kabar News Agency Kubanychbek Taabaldiev, who is visiting Uzbekistan as an international observer to monitor the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes met in Tashkent with head of the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA) Abusaid Kuchimov.

At the meeting Kuchimov said that the proximity of the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples is manifested not only in a common culture, language, religion and similar values, but also actively develops strategic partnership, good neighborliness and mutual trust.

“Your visit to our country as an international observer allowed us to exchange views on important political events in our country, the importance of the recently adopted Electoral Code in Uzbekistan and the coverage of these changes through the UzA website,” said Kuchimov.

Taabaldiev considers that the scale of reforms in Uzbekistan in recent years has opened a new page for cooperation in the Central Asian region.

“As a result of these reforms, the elections in Uzbekistan on December 22 are being organized in a new spirit. During my visit, I have the opportunity to get acquainted with the preparations for the elections in your country, the work done to ensure and protect the political rights of citizens. Tomorrow I will go to Bukhara region to get acquainted with the experience of Uzbekistan in this area,” he said.

In recent years, Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations have been actively developing in all areas thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries. Close cooperation between the National News Agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan is an important factor in informing the public about the scope and possibilities of cooperation in this area, widely covering the essence of regional and international initiatives implemented in the interests of the two peoples. The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of information exchange, signed in 2017, is the legal basis for these relations.
