Heads of Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and ADB Board of Directors discuss implementation of joint projects

Bishkek, March 23, 2022 / Kabar/. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev met with Executive Director of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank Arif Bakharudin and the team of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

In his speech, Amangeldiev expressed gratitude to the ADB for its significant contribution to the development of the country's economy, and also noted that more than 200 projects have been implemented in the country over the entire period of the ADB's work.

During the meeting, issues of developing a new country strategy for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and ADB for 2022-2024 were also discussed. The minister confirmed the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to provide all possible support to ongoing projects and programs in Kyrgyzstan. He also informed the delegation about the ongoing socio-economic reforms and the implementation of the medium-term national program for the development of the country.

In turn, Bakharudin noted that the purpose of the visit to Kyrgyzstan is to develop a new country strategy, as well as to monitor ongoing projects in the country. He outlined the following main areas of cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic: economic diversification, infrastructure development, combating climate change, etc. He also informed about new ADB initiatives in the framework of stabilizing the economy in the post-pandemic period, combating climate change, and switching to renewable energy sources.

In addition, the sides discussed the development of entrepreneurship, in particular handicrafts and women's entrepreneurship.

The sides agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation and implement joint projects.
