Heads of special services of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan meet in Fergana

Bishkek, May 7, 2024. /Kabar/. A meeting was held in the city of Fergana on May 6 between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet - Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchybek Tashiev, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan S. Yatimov and Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan A. Azizov.

The press service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that during the negotiations the parties discussed in detail the entire range of problems of ensuring regional security in an open and confidential manner.

An exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of interaction in such current areas as the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, illegal migration, smuggling and other threats and challenges of a trans-border nature. The issues of cross-border cooperation and, in general, the creation of favorable conditions for the development of good neighborly relations between the states of the parties were touched upon.

During the dialogue, agenda items related to the delimitation of state borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as issues of demarcation of borders between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, were considered in a constructive manner.

The meeting participants reached agreements on accelerating the processes of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik and demarcation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state borders and identified practical measures to resolve these issues based on the mutual interests of the parties.

As a result of the negotiations, specific instructions were given to members of the Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental commission to coordinate the remaining sections of the border, as well as to prepare and sign a corresponding bilateral agreement.
