Historic quiz for Day of Military Glory held at Kant Air Base

The Day of Military Glory of Russia – the Day when the Soviet troops defeated the German fascist troops in the Battle of Stalingrad (1943) is marked on February 2, established in accordance with the Federal Law of March 13, 1995 on the Days of Military Glory and the Commemorative Dates in Russia.

The military personnel of Kant United Russian CSTO Air Base conducted a historical quiz on the occasion of the Day of Military Glory, the press service of the Russian CSTO Air Base reported.

The Russian military divided into two teams and answered questions about the Battle of Stalingrad. After that, the participants were shown the exposition dedicated to this date.

The Battle of Stalingrad is one of the greatest in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. It began on July 17, 1942 and ended on February 2, 1943. By the nature of the combat operations, the Battle of Stalingrad is divided into two periods: the defensive, which lasted from July 17 to November 18, 1942, the purpose of which was to defend the city of Stalingrad (since 1961 – Volgograd), and the offensive, which began on November 19, 1942 and ended on February 2, 1943 with the defeat of the group of German fascist troops operating in the Stalingrad sector.

Kant United Russian Air Base is part of the Collective Rapid Deployment Force and participates in ensuring the security of the airspace of the CSTO states. The Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 helicopters are in service.
