Honey, dried fruits, nuts from Kyrgyzstan arouse great interest in Kuwait

Al Kuwait, Feb. 22, 2019. /Kabar/. An exhibition of Kyrgyz products was held in one of Kuwait’s largest hypermarkets, LuLu. In particular, honey, dried fruits and nuts were presented on the counters of a Kuwaiti shop.

Abdulaziz Botbayev, Advisor to the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kuwait on political, economic and trade issues, told that LuLu hypermarket chain has offices in 30 countries.

“If our businessmen can conclude an agreement with LuLu, they will supply their products not only to Kuwait, but also to all countries of the Arabian Gulf. In this regard, we have been working with this company for a long time. We gave them the prices of our manufacturers and brought samples. After that, they allowed us to organize an exhibition of our products in Kuwait’s largest hypermarket,” he explained.

This was the first step in establishing cooperation with LuLu hypermarket, Botbayev said.

“We made an advertisement. In addition, we took contacts of about 20 partner companies of LuLu and handed them over to our entrepreneurs. Then they will be able to directly contact the management of the chain of stores,” the adviser to the ambassador added.

He also noted that today in Kuwait white honey from Kyrgyzstan is already being sold in the network of Carrefour stores.

“Sometimes private entrepreneurs come there to buy Kyrgyz honey,” Abdulaziz Botbayev emphasized.

The adviser to the ambassador added that the potential for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait is enormous, because this Arab country imports everything.

“If you even compare, here a watermelon costs 3 dinars, that is, 700 soms. In Kyrgyzstan, watermelon costs 70 soms. And even with all the costs, it is still profitable to sell it here if it costs 700 soms. At present, the main task for the solution is the question of logistics. We are now working closely on the opening of a direct flight Kyrgyzstan-Kuwait with two companies – Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways,” he added.

The exhibition of Kyrgyz products has aroused great interest from buyers. Many have expressed a desire to purchase Kyrgyz goods. One of the local buyers admitted that he had never tried such delicious raisins and so fresh nuts.
