How many Kyrgyz citizens tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from abroad on charter flights?

Bishkek, May 4, 2020. /Kabar/. At today’s briefing at the Government House, Head of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry’s Public Health Department Ainura Akmatova provided information about number of passengers who contracted COVID-19 coronavirus infection after returning from abroad on charter flights.

According to her, five charter flights have been organized to Kyrgyzstan since Apr. 17: Ankara-Istanbul-Bishkek, Novosibirsk-Bishkek, Yekaterinburg-Bishkek, Istanbul-Bishkek and Dubai-Bishkek.

1 thousand 117 passengers have returned to the country on this flights. PCR-analyses were taken from all those who arrived. Five of them tested positive.

Soon, all these passengers will be taking PCR analysis for the second time.

Ainura Akmatova also said a woman, who died May 2, arrived in Kyrgyzstan on the Yekaterinburg-Bishkek charter flight.

"A coronavirus was found in one patient during an examination. A total of 157 people have arrived on that flight. Six passengers were in close contact with her. All passengers of this flight underwent PCR analysis and are waiting to be tested again. I want to point out that only one passenger had a positive result on COVID-19, all others tested negative,” she added.

35 more cases of coronavirus infection have been revealed in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, bringing the total to 830, including 216 cases of medics’ infection.

575 citizens have cured and discharged from hospitals, including 139 health workers. 10 have passed away, one of which was a physician.
