How many Kyrgyz schools have access to Internet?

Bishkek, Sept. 7, 2020. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, 2,106 schools are connected to the Internet, Chairman of the State Committee for Information Technologies and Communications (SCITC) of the republic Altynbek Ismailov told during a press conference at Kabar News Agency Monday.

"A total of 2 thousand 137 schools are functioning in the country. Of these, 2 thousand 106 schools already have access to the Internet. A meeting was held jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of the republic and telecom operators, where the issues of troubleshooting the network, for continuous provision of distance learning in schools and universities were discussed," Ismailov said.

Also, the SCITC head informed that at the moment there are difficulties with Internet connection only in 20 schools.

In Kyrgyzstan, all schools have been switched to distance learning since March. To date, 388 children have been registered with COVID-19.

Due to coronavirus pandemic, new academic year in the country began in an unusual mode - only first-graders attend schools, all others study online.
