HQ for Combating COVID-19: Influenza vaccination will alleviate situation during pandemic

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2020. /Kabar/. Vaccination campaign against influenza and acute respiratory viral infections will alleviate the situation during the COVID-19 pandemic, specialists of Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry said on Tuesday during a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.

"Traditionally, in autumn and winter, the number of people affected by influenza and acute respiratory viral infections increases by an order of magnitude. In this regard, preparations are underway for vaccination of the population, which, in addition to public health organizations, will involve private medical institutions," the specialists said.

First Deputy Prime Minister Almazbek Baatyrbekov emphasized the need to raise public awareness of the importance of vaccinating citizens against influenza and SARS.

"Various kinds of information about vaccination are distributed on social networks. Local authorities, together with medical workers, should carry out explanatory work among the population that the seasonal flu vaccination was carried out earlier. The vaccination does not cause any harm to health. Vaccination itself should begin in the second half of September," Baatyrbekov said.

At the end of the meeting, a number of instructions were given to the relevant state bodies.

Thus, the Ministry of Health has been instructed to strengthen work to ensure the necessary amount of stock of medicines.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the republic has been instructed to continue outreach work in kindergartens and schools to prevent infectious diseases among children.
