Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. One of the main problems for Kyrgyzstan and its citizens, who leave for labor migration, is the struggle against human trafficking, Deputy Chairman of the State Migration Service of Kyrgyzstan Samat Toktobolotov told at a press conference at the Kabar News Agency.
He explained that in regard with the above, their institution has started developing practical proactive measures to prevent the acts of human trafficking.
“In Moscow a number of meetings have been held with representatives of Kyrgyz diasporas in Russia on working out joint solutions, and certain tasks that should be fulfilled have been set. In addition, we have established a very close interaction with representatives of Kyrgyz diasporas abroad. The majority of them today serve as public representatives of the Kyrgyz Migration Service in Russia”, he said referring to the fact that the State Migration Service intends to continue this experience and introduce this practice in other countries.
Within the period of 2013-2016, 50 criminal cases, which were brought under article 124 on Human Trafficking of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan were considered. 15 citizens were prosecuted. Last year 8 criminal cases were initiated, one was found guilty and sentenced to eight years imprisonment. This year – one.
In Kyrgyzstan the 100 Days against Human Trafficking campaign has started today.
