Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. Hungarian scholar David Somfai Kara mastered the Kyrgyz language to perfection through the Manas epic, he told during a visit to Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek.
Apart from Professor David Somfai Kara of the Ethnographic Research Institute, anthropologist, senior researcher at the Institute for Humanitarian Studies Istvan Shant also arrived in Bishkek.
David Somfai Kara has translated an abridged version of the Manas epic narrated by Sagynbay Orozbakov into Hungarian.
He told that the study of the epic allowed him to master the Kyrgyz language to perfection.
The Hungarian scholars also expressed interest in cooperating with the National Library in studying the musical art of Kyrgyzstan.
For her part, Director Zhyldyz Bakashova spoke about the library’s activities, events held within the 90th anniversary of Aitmatov and the International Issyk-Kul Forum, and also thanked for the visit and expressed a wish for further fruitful cooperation.
