Hunting season for several species of animals opens in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug. 10, 2020. /Kabar/. The hunting season for ungulates, ibex, roe deer, wild boar, as well as for quail, pigeon and dove has been opened in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) reported Monday.

The activities are carried out for the purpose of rational use of wild ungulate resources, its protection, reproduction and regulation of mining in Kyrgyzstan.

At present, the number of ibex living in Kyrgyzstan is 46,161 heads, roe deer 4,760 heads and wild boars more than 3,000 heads.

"In addition, Kyrgyzstan is home to three species of argali listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan: Marco Polo sheep, Tian Shan argali and Severtsev sheep. Their total number now exceeds 16,000," the report says.
