Bishkek, Mar. 14, 2019. /Kabar/. The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Emirates Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Bishkek, chaired by Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Jenish Razakov and Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the press service of the Government Office reported.
During the meeting of the commission, which was held in a narrow and expanded format, issues of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as topical issues in the field of agriculture, information technology, tourism, development of small and medium-sized businesses and others were discussed.
In his speech, the Vice Prime Minister emphasized that the holding of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission would be a significant event in the development of the relations between the countries.
“One of the priority areas for us is the economy and trade. In this regard, I would like to note that the current state of trade and economic cooperation does not meet the economic requirements of our countries. We have a great potential for the further development of joint cooperation,” Razakov stressed.
In order to further develop trade and economic cooperation, the Vice Prime Minister suggested considering the possibility of expanding the export of meat products, honey, crops and felt products from Kyrgyzstan.
“Also important for us is the establishment of links between the private sectors of the two countries. The Kyrgyz side is ready to present large projects to entrepreneurs from the UAE. In addition, we consider the areas of transport and civil aviation to be important areas of cooperation. In 2018, the number of tourists from the UAE has almost tripled compared to previous years,” he said.
At the same time, Razakov spoke in detail about the prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, the agro-industrial complex, the food industry, education and innovation.
UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, in turn, stressed that a number of meetings were held at the expert level and with the heads of relevant government agencies. According to him, the leadership of the UAE considers it important to take economic and investment cooperation between the countries to a new level. He expressed readiness to build up the existing trade and economic potential between the countries.
At the end of the event, the Protocol of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was signed.
