I meeting of Kyrgyz-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Bishkek

Bishkek, Mar. 13, 2019. /Kabar/. The expert part of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held at the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of official delegations of the two countries chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Eldar Alisherov from the Kyrgyz side and Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori from the Emirati side.

The press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that a wide range of bilateral issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of attracting investment, agriculture, food safety, information technology, Islamic economics, financial services, tourism, civil aviation, and development of small and medium-sized businesses became the main focus of the agenda of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

In addition, issues of exporting domestic products of the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Arab Emirates, including meat and meat products, honey, dried fruits, bottled water, and continuing work to achieve the necessary conditions for access of goods to the markets of the two states were discussed.

The Kyrgyz side invited UAE investors to conduct active investment activities in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, to invest in economic projects within the framework of the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040.

The Emirati side expressed its willingness to assist the Kyrgyz side in improving knowledge and experience in sectors such as Islamic banking, Islamic financial markets, issuance and circulation of securities, and the halal industry. To this end, an agreement was reached on establishing and increasing cooperation with the relevant institutions of the United Arab Emirates, including Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre and the International Islamic Halal Organization.

The parties also discussed the organization of joint business events aimed at familiarizing, establishing contacts and developing cooperation between the business communities of the two states.

At the end of the event, the signing of the Protocol of the 1st meeting of the Kyrgyz-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was signed.
