Bishkek, Dec. 20, 2018. /Kabar/. An expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health on 10-15 December 2018.
Head of the Department Aigul Dzhumakanova told that the work plan of the upcoming project on “Improving the Capacity of the National Laboratory in Food Safety” was discussed. The project involves provision of a mobile laboratory, training laboratory specialists, supporting participation in professional testing programs from leading international providers, and preparing for accreditation in accordance with ISO / IEC 17043.
In May 2018, at the SAEPF under the Kyrgyz Government, with the participation of IAEA experts and project management specialists from the Europe and Asia Division, made a selection of project proposals for testing laboratories. A project proposal “Improving the Capacity of the National Laboratory in Food Safety” was presented by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health, which received preliminary approval, was assigned the number KIG 2018005. Training in the logical structure of the project and step-by-step implementation was conducted. An IAEA expert has evaluated the potential of the national laboratory. The preliminary budget of the project is 600 000 euros.
On December 14, IAEA expert James Susania met with IAEA National Coordinator for the Kyrgyz Republic Tolongutov. At the meeting, further plans, as well as completed projects were voiced.
