Bishkek, Apr. 16, 2020. /Kabar/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will help Kyrgyzstan to fight against COVID-19, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) of the Kyrgyz Republic said.

SAEPF Director Mirslav Amankulov in early March this year appealed to the IAEA for assistance to the country in the fight against coronavirus.

"On the previous day, the IAEA leadership positively considered this request and expressed its readiness to assist Kyrgyzstan in fighting the coronavirus," the report says.

As a result, the IAEA provided Kyrgyzstan with diagnostic kits for RT-PCR (real-time polymer reaction), consumables, primers and COVID-19 rapid detection probes. The total amount of assistance is EUR 64, 000.

This assistance was made possible thanks to an extrabudgetary contribution from the United States.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an International organizations that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons.
