Increase in cultivated areas of crops observed in Kyrgyzstan in 2021

Bishkek, July 6, 2021 . / Kabar / . In 2021, the total area for crops in Kyrgyzstan amounted to more than 1.2 million hectares, which is 0.2% more compared to the previous year.

The National Statistics Committee of the repubiic reported that the growth was provided by an increase in acreage of cereals by 1.5%, including wheat - 1.2%, barley - 2.3% and corn - 0.7%.

In addition, the area of sugar beet planting was increased by 22.8 %, vegetables - by 2.7 % and other crops - by 3.9 %.

Along with that, a decrease was observed in sown areas of oil crops by 12.9%, cotton - by 11.7%, melons for food - by 5.5%, potatoes - by 1.8% as well as forage crops - by 0.5%.

Chui Oblast accounts for the biggest share of sown area - 34,2%, Issyk-Kul Oblast - 15%, Osh Oblast - 14,7%, Jalal-Abad Oblast - 12,8% and Naryn Oblast - 9%.
