Bishkek, April 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is considering the purchase of 150,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines for Kyrgyzstan, Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova told Kabar News Agency.
She said that initially, the vaccination of the Kyrgyz population was planned to take place three stages: at the expense of the COVAX program, budget funds and donors.
"Now the World Bank has developed its budgeting plan. The Islamic Development Bank should decide within a month on the allocation of $3 million to buy 150,000 doses of vaccines for population of Kyrgyzstan. We have given them our preferred vaccines, which are Russian vaccines and those approved by the WHO," she said.
Ishenapysova added that the Kyrgyz Ministry of Finance is actively working with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which is considering applications for vaccines.
"In general, it is planned to vaccinate 20% of the population at the expense of donor aid, which is about 1.3 million people," the director of the Immunoprophylaxis Center concluded.
