III Cinema Forum of Female Directors of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek

Bishkek, Mar. 18, 2019. /Kabar/. The 3rd Cinema Forum of Female Directors of Kyrgyzstan was held in Bishkek on March 15-16, the Creative Women of Asia public foundation reported.

This year the event was held with the support of the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan, producer and public figure Emir Sarpashev, as well as the Tazar film company. Since last year, the forum has risen to the international level, inviting guests from neighboring countries. Guests from Russia also arrived this year: director and producer of documentary films Galina Yevtushenko and Director of programs of Russia Open Documentary Film Festival Inna Demezhko, and documentary director Galina Adamovich came from Belarus. Among the participants were directors from Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the Cinema Forum is to support women directors of Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, the CIS, to unite women directors, create conditions for the exchange of ideas, introduce young filmmakers to the public and support them, raise the status of women of the CIS and Central Asia in cinema to the international level, glorify forgotten women – directors who have made a great contribution to the development of Kyrgyz cinema; bring their work to the public; to draw public attention to gender issues in the country.

The Creative Women of Asia public foundation was established on November 16, 2013. The founders are Assel Juraeva and Aigerim Birnazarova. The main purpose of the creation and operation of the foundation is to support the creativity of women in Asia, to protect the rights of creative women and to help promote their ideas, works and projects.

The Creative Women of Asia public foundation closely cooperates with the film companies Kyrgyzfilm, Tazar, Aytysh Film, SEA Studio, as well as organizations for the protection of women's rights. The foundation organizes Temir Birnazarov’s one-year directorial course each year. To date, the foundation has helped more than 15 directors make their films.
