The key indicators of the effectiveness of cooperation in the Commonwealth are the improvement of the socio-economic situation and the increase in the well-being of the population of our countries, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov told, speaking at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Moscow.
The Cabinet of Ministers reported that Akylbek Zhaparov noted the progressive development of trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the creation of favorable conditions in the CIS for the promotion of promising joint projects in energy, industrial, transport infrastructure, education, science, culture and other areas.
"Integration processes are noticeably deepening, the interaction of the participating states in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres is strengthening, the coordination of the activities of the CIS and other integration associations continues, the authority of the Commonwealth in the international arena is increasing. The key indicators of the effectiveness of cooperation in the Commonwealth are the improvement of the socio-economic situation and the increase in the well-being of the population of our countries. A clear example of this is the growth of the combined GDP of the CIS countries by 4.2%, which exceeds the average rate in the global GDP. In this context, I would like to share current data on the economic situation in our country. According to our statistics, for January - November 2024, the real GDP growth rate was 109%. During this period, we not only maintained, but also accelerated the pace of development, strengthening macroeconomic stability and laying a solid foundation for future growth," he said, adding that the main task today is to strengthen the contribution of the real sector of the economy, continue to attract foreign investment and ensure their successful integration into strategically important industries in the country. Akylbek Zhaparov continued that according to the latest forecasts of the Eurasian Development Bank, Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth in 2025 will be more than 8.7%. There is a positive trend in mutual trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Commonwealth countries.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover with the CIS member states increased by 15.1% in January-September 2024 compared to last year.
"I am confident that the Agreement on Free Trade in Services, Establishment, Activities and Investments, signed last year and entered into force this year for a number of CIS countries, will play its expected positive role in the development of trade and economic relations. In general, over the past years, the CIS member states have achieved great success in many areas of economic cooperation, establishing strong mutually beneficial ties in the areas of trade, energy, transport, agriculture, construction, industrial cooperation, tourism and other industries," he said.
The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers continued that increased attention is paid to the development of the transport and logistics sector, which is the basis for strengthening connectivity in the Commonwealth and, in general, on the Eurasian continent.
In his speech, Akylbek Zhaparov called for intensifying cooperation in the field of labor migration and updating the regulatory framework in this area, given that the issue of free movement of workers is coming to the forefront.
"I believe it is necessary to combine efforts to carry out joint work to develop mechanisms for selective identity checks so that labor migration is safe, orderly and legal, and honest and law-abiding workers do not suffer from injustice, bias and discrimination. In this regard, I believe it is important to continue the common work to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between our peoples, to find mutually acceptable solutions aimed at the full implementation of workers' rights," he emphasized.
The head of the Cabinet also noted that the development of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere has been and remains a priority area in the Commonwealth.
