In Kyrgyzstan, flu incidence will peak in December and January

Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2020. /Kabar/. According to laboratory research, flu incidence in Kyrgyzstan peaks at the end of December and January, the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health said.

In week 45 (i.e. on Nov. 2-8), there was a 9.8% decrease (compared to last 44 week) in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, 1,919 cases were registered against 2,129 cases.

"Influenza and ARVI begin in the cold season. This is due to the fact that the flu virus is resistant to severe weather. In addition, person’s ability to protect against viral diseases weakens in cold weather. If one pupil in a class or in a group of children gets sick, he can infect several children (according to the literature, from 5 to 25 and more), which can lead to a sharp increase in morbidity,” the report says.

Specialists added that in addition to medical organizations, flu vaccination is conducted in private medical centers.
