Bishkek, March 21, 2020./Kabar/. Local council elections in Kyrgyzstan, scheduled for Apr.12, will be postponed due to the situation with the coronavirus infection, the press service of Kyrgyz President reported.
Today, March 21 regular narrow format meeting of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of heads of state agencies, Chui Oblast Governor and Bishkek Mayor was held under the chairmanship of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
During the meeting, the Council adopted a decision, according to which Prime Minister of the republic is proposed to introduce a regime of emergency situation on the territory of the country from March 22, 2020 for a period of 1 month due to coronavirus.
"Taking into account the introduction of the emergency situation regime in the country, it was also decided to postpone the date of voting in a number of local councils, which were scheduled for Apr.12, 2020," the report says.
The total number of coronavirus infected in the country reached 14.
Earlier, 12 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the south of the country. One in Batken region, 8 in Suzak region and three in Nookat region.
2 cases were detected today in Bishkek.
Today, the state of emergency was declared in the Kyrgyz Republic.
