In Kyrgyzstan, men are less likely to live to retirement age than women

Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2018. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, the probability of reaching the retirement age for women is about 90%, for men - only 70%.

Such data was presented in the journal of the National Statistical Committee "Annual Demographic Report of the Kyrgyz Republic 2013-2017".

The difference is observed at about 40 years of age, and at the age over 80 the number of women is almost 2 times higher than the number of men.

This phenomenon is mainly due to differences in the age-specific mortality of the male and female population. The average age of the population is gradually increasing and at the beginning of 2018 it was 27.6 years for both genders, 26.6 years for men and 28.6 years for women.

At the age and gender structure of the population of Kyrgyzstan, differences in the changes in the age groups of the population remain. So, in the group of younger working age, there was a tendency for some growth (at the beginning of 2013 - 32.6%, at the beginning of 2018 - 33.9%). The share of children and adolescents in the total population in Jalal-Abad, Batken, Naryn, Osh and Talas oblasts is higher (35.2-37.7%), where the birth rate exceeds the national average.
